🇺🇸F*ck Their Flag Pins—We’re the Real Patriots 🇺🇸
Resisting Fascism Is as American as It Gets. When the government betrays the people, rebellion is patriotic.
On this Fourth of July, while the fireworks go off and the flags come out, let’s not pretend we’re celebrating freedom. Yesterday, our government declared war on the people—again. They rammed through Trump’s Big Ugly Budget, a sadistic blueprint that rips healthcare away from millions, guts food aid, and shovels cash into ICE—the agency literally kidnapping our neighbors in unmarked vans. If this is their version of “American greatness,” they can keep it.
This is what the GOP version of “patriotism.” We call it what it is: state-sponsored violence in red, white, and blue wrapping.
So let’s be clear—today is not about performative flag-waving or pretending everything is fine. It’s about reclaiming patriotism from the fascists who’ve hijacked it.
True American patriotism has always come from the people who pushed this country forward when those in power tried to drag us back. We don’t have to look far to find examples:
• Ida B. Wells – Journalist, suffragist, and anti-lynching crusader who stared down white supremacy with a printing press. When the law refused to protect Black lives, she documented the violence and exposed the truth, risking her life in the process.
• Fred Korematsu stood up to Japanese internment when the Supreme Court and government turned on their own people. He fought back—and won.
• The Freedom Riders – Young Black and white activists who rode buses into the Jim Crow South to challenge segregation—knowing full well they could be beaten, jailed, or worse. They did it anyway.
• Dolores Huerta – Co-founder of the United Farm Workers, who rallied workers to strike and boycott against impossible odds. Her brand of patriotism? Organize, strike, and never apologize for demanding dignity.
• Daniel Ellsberg – Leaked the Pentagon Papers and exposed how the U.S. government lied about the Vietnam War. He didn’t wave a flag—he pulled the fire alarm.
These weren’t the people writing laws—they were the ones breaking unjust ones. They were not protecting the status quo. They were disrupting it. That’s the real American tradition.
And now it’s our turn.
We’re not going to sugarcoat it: This second Trump term is darker, meaner, and more organized than the last. It’s not just chaos—it’s strategy. From banning birthright citizenship to gutting Medicaid to militarizing law enforcement, the goal is clear: punish the poor, disappear immigrants, and reward billionaires.
But every time they try to tighten the screws, we remind them that the American spirit they fear most—the one that organizes, agitates, and refuses to be silenced—is alive and kicking.
So this Fourth of July, light a spark. But don’t stop at the fireworks. Let it fuel your rage, your hope, your organizing. Patriotism isn’t about loving your country as it is. It’s about fighting like hell for what it could be.
The flag doesn’t belong to fascists.
The future doesn’t belong to billionaires.
And patriotism doesn’t belong to ICE.
It belongs to us—the change makers, the troublemakers, the people who dare to build something better.
Happy Revolution Day.
