Hypocrisy and Hideouts: Michigan’s Purity Patron Exposed and the GOP Congressman Who Can’t Show Up
Josh Schriver's history tab is full of fetish sites and Bill Huizenga still can't face his people.
The Hypocrisy Behind Michigan’s Porn Crusader
Michigan Rep. Josh Schriver’s crusade for “moral purity” hit a wall of irony after a Metro Times investigation revealed that his email address appeared in a major data breach tied to a fetish-oriented hookup site listing interests like “groupsex.” Schriver has denied the link, calling it a fabrication, but cybersecurity evidence suggests otherwise, and the revelation cuts sharply against his image as the GOP’s anti-porn crusader. Even as he distances himself from the leak, Schriver is championing House Bill 4938, a sweeping proposal that would criminalize virtually all online pornography in Michigan, including depictions or descriptions of transgender identity. The bill, framed as the “Anticorruption of Public Morals Act,” would punish violations with up to 20 years in prison and six-figure fines, while forcing platforms to run 24/7 content surveillance systems to block “obscene” material.
Let’s be real: this bill isn’t about “porn.” It’s about policing queer and trans Michiganders. It rewrites “obscenity” to mean anything showing a “disconnection between biology and gender.” That’s not policy—it’s censorship. Unconstitutional, invasive, authoritarian. And from Schriver—already in hot water over his own alleged online habits—it’s peak hypocrisy: preach “decency,” criminalize identities, hope no one checks your tabs.
Still “Hidin’” Huizenga?
U.S. Representative Bill Huizenga (R-MI) faced mounting criticism from constituents in Michigan’s 4th Congressional District for canceling in district appearances and he’s done it yet again.
This week in Kalamazoo, Huizenga was apparently scheduled to speak at the Governmental Legislative Update Forum for the Greater Kalamazoo Association of Realtors but cancelled last minute. This prompted activist groups like Indivisible for Greater Kalamazoo and Kalamazoo Visibility Brigade, to stage protests. However, this is just the latest in a long line of Huizenga flaking out on his constituents.
In March of this year protesters gathered outside Huizenga’s office in Holland, Michigan, demanding an in-person town hall. In response, Huizenga held a telephone town hall later that day, emphasizing its effectiveness in reaching people. He stated, “We know that this is extremely effective for reaching people,” defending the phone format as a controlled setting that allowed for questions from those who wrote and called in.
The following week, frustrated constituents organized their own in-person town hall, dubbed “Missing in Action,” to address their concerns in Huizenga’s absence. Hundreds of attendees participated, featuring speeches from local activists and former political candidates.
From Schriver’s moral panic to Huizenga’s disappearing act, Michigan Republicans keep preaching “accountability” while ducking it themselves. They push sweeping crackdowns on other people’s freedoms, then ghost public forums when it’s their turn to answer questions. That’s not leadership—it’s control without courage. If democracy runs on transparency and representation, this crew keeps running on empty.
And speaking of no-shows: tonight For Our Future is hosting a “Review Tom Barrett” virtual drop-in so his constituents can leave their own report card for a congressman who won’t face folks in person. Sign up here to tell your story and leave your review: Tom’s Congressional Review

Johnboy promotes orange man every time a question is asked via email. He never answers the question, of course. Johnboy never appears before his constituents either.
We need some serious reporting on John Moolenaar. A supreme hypocrite, he supported the Gotion EV project as a way to help the economic development of Mecosta County and the area around it (the seventh poorest county in the state). Since he was tapped by 47 to head his "China" committee, Johnboy has, of course, gone full-blown maggot. His record of no-shows exceeds that of Huizinga and Bergman. Somehow, this very cruel man flies under the media's radar. Why?
