Michigan House GOP Cancels Work To Kiss Trump's Ring & Minnesota Assassin MI Hit List

Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall (R-Richland Township) canceled this week’s legislative sessions so MAGA lawmakers could attend Trump’s parade in D.C.—with less than two weeks to pass the state budget.
According to a report from the Michigan Information & Research Service, over 30 MI Republican state representatives are currently in Washington D. C. for a meeting with the President. The claim is that they are there for a Michigan specific “check-in” meeting with Trump. The timing couldn’t be more convenient as a number of GOP initiatives in the proposed budget have come under fierce scrutiny. Some of the biggest sticking points are the elimination of vital school programs like free lunches, early reading initiatives, and mental health support. Hall apparently had this House furlough planned in advance, despite telling MIRS he’d work “in good faith” to pass the budget by July 1.
Multiple GOP members were sighted in D.C. and at Trump’s parade despite the urgency of the state’s budget situation, raising the question about their priorities. Michigan schools would be caught in limbo when it came to making their own financial plans without the July 1 budget sent through.
Far-Right Terrorist Targets Lawmakers; Michigan Reps on Hit List Amid Disinfo Storm
Michigan Representatives Debbie Dingell, Rashida Tlaib and Hillary Scholten were among those named on a hit list found in the possession of Vance Boelter, the man now in custody for the targeted shootings of two Minnesota legislators and their families. The list, which also included abortion clinics and elected officials across the Midwest, reveals the shooter’s far-right ideological motives—yet much of the media still refuses to call this what it is: domestic terrorism.
The attack occurred on the same day as nationwide “No Kings” protests against authoritarianism. Senator John Hoffman and his wife were shot after answering the door to a man posing as a police officer in a fake police uniform driving a fake police car. Both are expected to recover. Hours later, Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed in their home.
Despite evidence pointing to Boelter’s far-right extremism—including a manifesto, anti-liberal views, and confirmation from his roommate that he was “very conservative”—right-wing media has flooded the internet with false claims blaming Governor Tim Walz, even suggesting he ordered the killings. These conspiracy theories are not only untrue, they are dangerous.
Meanwhile, legacy media outlets have failed to clearly label this as domestic terrorism motivated by far right extremism. That failure—combined with the right’s disinformation machine—distorts the threat we’re facing. This was not random. This was a calculated act of terror targeting Democratic lawmakers and reproductive healthcare providers. And if we keep pretending it’s anything else, more people will get hurt.

I am beyond embarrassed that Matt Hall hails from Richland Township. I grew up in Richland from 5th grade to beyond graduation at Gull Lake High School in Richland. It *used* to be a nice, rural place, quiet, peaceful, and kind. The sort of place you'd want to raise kids and just live. Seen through the lens of Matt Hall and his repugnant hatred, I'm not sure I'd even want to go back for a visit now.
