I’m not sure if you wrote about it yet, as I’ve only recently started following Distill Social, but we need to get our governor to call a special election for the 35th District. We have some solid progressive candidates vying for the seat, and now is the time to ride the backlash to the Right’s capricious overreach.
I should also note, I submitted a resolution in Bay City that would’ve prohibited city personnel or systems from retaining the immigration status of residents and barred our Dept. of Public Safety from participating in the 287(g) program and others like it. It passed in commission 5-4, but was vetoed by our mayor after our State Rep, Timmy Beson, “informed” the mayor that Matt Hall and his cronies were talking about withholding funding if he didn’t veto. Outright extortion if you ask me.
